Missions in the Bible
- Missions has been in the Bible throughout the whole of the Old Testament and New Testament. In this section we will present a survey of the Biblical verses dealing with missions and God's heart for the nations.
Key Verses
- The following verses are key for a "60-second tour" of missions throughout the Bible. If you are presenting the continuity of God's heart for the nations, these are some of the verses that you might use.
- Genesis 12:1-3 or the Abrahamic Covenant - "all peoples on earth will be blessed through you" (NIV)
- Deuteronomy 4:6-8 - "this will show your wisdom and understanding to the nations" (NIV)
- 1 Kings 8:41-43, 59-60 - "so that all the peoples of the earth may know your name" (NIV)
- Isaiah 49:6 - "I will also make you a light for the Gentiles" (NIV)
- Psalm 45:17 - "the nations will praise you for ever and ever" (NIV)
- Mark 11:15-17 - "My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations" (NIV)
- Matthew 24:14 - "this gospel... will be preached in the whole world" (NIV)
- Mark 16:15 - "preach the good news to all creation" (NIV)
- Acts 1:8 - "you will be my witnesses... to the ends of the earth" (NIV)
- Revelation 5:9 - "with your blood you purchased men for God from every tribe and language and people and nation" (NIV)
- Revelation 15:4 - "All nations will come and worship before you" (NIV)
